KOON KEE CLAYPOT CHICKEN RICE

eI read a few reviews about the Claypot Chicken Rice at Koon Kee Restaurant and not knowing what to eat for dinner, we decided to try it out. Located in Damansara Jaya, the same row of shophouses as Domino's Pizza, this corner coffee shop is quite busy. Luckily, we were served almost immediately, so I think they must have some pre-cooked rice ready.

We ordered a claypot of rice for 2 person. Generous amount of chinese sausages and the best thing is that they only use chicken drumsticks. The salted fish enhanced the flavour of the rice. Not bad...but personally, if only the rice a bit dry (grains by grains), then it would be even better.

I was so excited when I saw "Black Pepper Pig's Stomach Soup" in their menu. Serving was small and basically it's tasteless. No pepper no salt...it's more like water with pig's stomach. Total disappointment.

We also ordered Boiled Yau Mak and Hubby didn't like it at all. To me, it's just another plate of veggie...nothing special.

Not sure of the price breakdown but if not mistaken, the whole meal costs about RM24.
Reasonable i guess.

Yum, claypot chicken rice. Been craving for that as it's such nice food esp with the rain we have been getting recently.

Constant Craver: Hahaha..good food must be shared, but food lagi must be shared.

lyrical lemongrass: Yalah...so disappointed with the soup.

jackson: I heard that it is one of the best in town too...suggest you only order the rice and forget the rest.

tummythoz: Must alternate my post between food and doggie..hehehe. Actually wanted to talk about Pumpkin, but then forgot to upload photos into my thumbdrive yesterday. Anyway...tomorrow will feature pumpkin cos I got ALOT to say about him.

meiyen: I think they forgot to put in seasoning...cos it was like water with pork stomach swimming inside. :( I was super upset!

Oh this is different from Busy Corner? Hehe..I'm an alien to that area! But I've been hearing a lot about both Koon kee and Busy corner! Maybe it's a personal preference!

pink elle: If taken into consideration the total food quality, Busy Corner would be my preference. The soup there is really good! Especially Peanut Soup.

When it comes to claypot chicken rice, the 2 stalls in Pudu will be used as my benchmark. Let me try this Koon Kee and compare 'em all.

I really think Busy Corner's claypot chicken rice is very mediocre though.

I tried Busy Corner as mentioned by tankiasu .. the one in D'sara near KDU. I actually like it ... especially because it has variety. I should be writing an article for them soon. Keep posted.

The pig stomach soup looks very diluted... sorry to hear that it's disappointing.
