A Magical Place.....Disneyland

M.I.C.K.E.Y....M.O.U.S.E!! The Mickey Mouse song kept playing in my head until now, just can't help from humming it over and over again. So much so, I caught my Hubby humming it from time to time too. Hehehe...big kiddos. Being the first time here, I didn't anticipate much from it cos I heard way too much negative remarks on HK Disneyland, being too small, overcrowded and long queue for rides. Turn out not true at all. It might be small as compared to their counterparts in U.S . and Japan but even a day in HK Disneyland is not enough for me to try all the rides and shows, take pictures with characters and not forgetting the shopping part. The park is divided into 4 main areas; Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and to promote recent release of Pirates of Carribean 3, they converted Adventureland into Pirateland.

The entrance into the Park...still need to walk further in for the main entrance...gosh..long long walk.
Tada...already inside the park. The building is actually a train station which provide lazy people a ride around the park. I would prefer to walk.
The famous Sleeping Beauty Castle, entrance to the Fantasyland. Wait till you see the night view (pictures below).....even more beautiful.
We arrived just in time for the daily parade held in Main Street USA and I managed to stand right in front of the walkway....hehehe..just perfect cos no one is blocking my view. Lots of those dancers doesn't look Chinese, Hubby suspected they are Philippinos.
OOOooo...guess which was the first character I met??? My FAVOURITE CHIP!!! Dale was on the other side though. Harlow....*wave wave wave*..he saw me and waved back. ***GRIN***
Appearing next were the 7 Dwarfs..so cute! Feels like hugging all of them. Sneezy is my favourite, which is yours?Of course, we don't need to guess who is going to appear next...Snow White of course!! Hmm..where is Prince Charming (a famous by forgotten character by Disney)? My favourite princess of all time...CINDERELLA!
Alice of Alice in Wonderland
Ariel of the Little Mermaid. I like Sebastian, where is he???

A very colourful jellyfish-man waving at me. Well...since he so friendly, I got to take a picture of him rite?? Turned out beautiful with all the bubbles floating in the air.
Can't associate much with Buzz from Toy Story cos I guess it's for the newer generation. But this photo is taken for my beloved nephew as Buzz is, oppss, I guess it's now 'was' his favourite.
Lastly, Mickey Mouse and friends came out to end the parade. Can you see Mickey and Minnie up there??
Hi Daisy!! *Wave wave*
Hubby's struggling now to enjoy a better tomorrow...hehehe...he cute or not? Took some time for me to convince him to pose like this. Such a darling! *GRIN* This Goofy is really naughty. I was unaware that his hands were wet until he cupped my face with it. Eeeewwwww!!!!! Face all wet!! Look at his innocent look! He is trying to find his next victim.
Thumbs up from Pooh bear.
I have been stalking for this two fellas, searching high and low by asking a few of those staffs, finally found them in Fantasyland. Who else? My favourite Chip and Dale.
This little girl who was queuing in front of me is sooo pretty. Awww..my Donald is so handsome too!
Pretty Mulan. Poor girl, many people who walked passed kept pointing and asking 'who's that?' Well, I was one of them...LOL! But of course I know who is Mulan la...but didn't expect her character will appear in Disneyland. Now, where is Pocahontas??

There are many many many many more photos taken but cos all also with my face in it, sadly, can't be posted here. I was too excited to even remember taking solo picture of those characters. Next trip I will do that. I spent more than 1/3 of my time shopping in Disneyland. Souvenir shops are scattered everywhere but most offering the same item. There are also a few shops specialising in sweets and cookies, jewelleries and crystals. Pricey, very pricey but I still managed to grab 'a few' items home. A few only ok...cos I run out of cash and I don't want to burst my credit card limit.

Cute or not my bag (how can I leave the place without buying a bag??)?? Made of leather. Surprisingly, my dad is so impressed with this bag, kept saying it's so nice, especially the lock. FYI, he never compliment my bags, probably never even notice.

I love the Sweets shop the best. So colourful and neat. But I find they sell normal butter cookies/japanese rice crackers/chocolates. It's the packaging that hike up the price. We didn't get any though cos I find it's not worth it. Anyway...a few photos as rememberance.

Simply love their clothing range but sadly, the only Chip n Dale design they have is way too small to fit me. Plus it's in yellow...not my favourite colour. I asked for it in men's design...the shop assistant told me it's not available in male's range of tees. Huh?? You mean guys cannot like Chip n Dale issit?? Look at my Hubby! He is Dale's fan!
Princesses on display, take a pick.

Ok, for my fellow floggers, I would not deprive you of food. At first we wanted to try a Fusion restaurant which is hosted by Lee Kum Kee. It was fulled house and we gotto wait for 30 minutes. Since the firework display is starting in an hour's time, we cannot afford to miss it. So we went over to another restaurant nearby called Plaza Inn Restaurant, operated by Maxim's which is one of Hong Kong largest food and beverage corporation and restaurant chain. They are quite famous for their dim sum and mooncake too but no chance/time to try.

Browsing through the menu can be ahem...quite shocking. The first page actually features their most expensive dishes, so once you flip to the next page...pheww...at least it's double digit. LOL! Seriously, the cheapest in the menu is wantan noodle but am not going to have noodle for dinner. I want meaty and solid food. I can't remember the exact pricing for each dish, all i remembered was PRICEY. The
Fried Rice with Dried Scallop wrapped in Lotus Leaf came a shock to us. It's SOOOO tiny. Do not be fooled by the picture. I zoomed in real close. The serving is half of my palm size...barely enough for one. But one thing for sure, it's very YUMMY! The sweetness of the dried scallop really enhance the taste of the rice. It was really hot when they served this dish, mmm...the aroma of the lotus leaf filled the air.
We ordered a platter of Suckling Pig and Roasted Goose. It's a very very good choice cos this plate is so so so so good. The pig's skin was so crispy and tasted so good when dipped into hoisin sauce. Each bite was accompanies with 'krack krack krack' sound while the thin layer of fats underneath melts in your mouth. Goodness, I just swallowed my own saliva...LOL!! The roasted goose was not bad too, almost as good as Yung Kee Restaurant. Very meaty and juicy with crispy skin..definately thumbs up from me. The portion surprising was quite big but it didn't stop Hubby from suggesting for a 2nd portion. Well, let this dinner be a memorable one instead of ended up overstuffed and Hubby agreed.

Felt like having greens to balance out what we have been eating for past few days and Hubby spotted the cheapest veggie dish in the menu. Stir-fry Seasonal Veggies for HKD79. I guess cucumbers, broccolis, snowpeas and capsicums are in season. LOL! Although it looked simple, the veggies were perfectly done. Fresh and crunchy with the taste perfectly adjusted. Two thumbs up for the chef. And ohh..the whole meal with rice and tea costs us HKD295.

We finished dinner just in time for fireworks display which starts at 9 p.m. every night. Everyone gathered in front of the Sleeping Beauty castle, waiting for the quiet dark sky to be filled with colours. I took a movie clip of it but sadly the file is too big to be uploaded into YouTube. A few Disney's theme song from Aladdin, Beauty & The Best, Pocahontas and etc was played together with the fireworks display. Such a magical moment, almost brought me to tears, tears of joy.

Being in Disneyland is really a wonderful and memorable moment for me. It's so relaxing and stress-free, totally the same feeling as being a kid once again. The word 'embarassment' was totally our from my vocabulary as I was hopping around here and there, waving frantically to catch attention when I see a character or the time when I was running towards Woody when I saw him from far. So much so, I had a rather difficult time adjusting myself back to reality when I walk out of Disneyland. Imagine my first day back to work...sigh. Anyway, Hubby and I decided to bring my nephew there next year...so hopefully I will blog about it again soon. Anyone want to follow???

NJoe: I think the adults enjoy Disneyland more than the kids. Afterall, we grew up watching Walt Disney's cartoon. Nowadays got so many new characters already like SpongeBob, Barney and many unheard of which we (at least me) can't associate with. That explains why am much excited when i see Mickey than Woody.

live2talk: High 5!! It was also my childhood dream but now...hehehe..my adulthood dream is to visit each and every Disneyland in the world. :)

tummythoz: No la...cos lots of photos cannot be posted so i do everything in 1 post. Scare you guys bored with too many parts.

babe_kl: LOL, ok ok...will bring my bag next meet-up.

Xiu Long Bao: Thanks..i love the bag too! That have another design, brown with Mickey head trademark, just like those LV design. But hubby said this bag is 'so me' so i got this one instead.

As for pumpkin, sigh...he is now shaved bald. Infected with mange but now recovering. I will post about him after am done with the HK trip.

hey hey, looks almost like the Disneyland in California leh. Also got Tomorrowland, Mainstreet (just that Adventureland still Adventureland, not converted yet).
You did not take any rides?

That Mickey Mouse bag looks like Hermes Birkin hor? ;p

actually, poor HK disneyland had such a bad rep...small lah, mainland chinese dirty la, this la that la, but until you go there and see for yourself, you'd realise these are all myths. i thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and spent THREE full days there with the kids. the fact that it wasnt as big as the american ones made it possible to try out all the rides without being stressed.

i'd definitely recommend it without hesitation, as an affordable, convenient alternative to the further ones. and its not true that mickey speaks only cantonese. the fireworks itself makes the trip worthwhile!

my only grouse about the main street parade is, why is it only the waffly sickly saccharine sweet characters are represented? what about the wonderful villains?!!!! i mean, cinderella's stepmother, now that's a woman to be reckoned with, Maleficent, that gorgeous horned beauty from sleeping beauty, Ursula, that overweight octopu-maid, jaafar, ......i'd cheer them anyday. oh, not to forget snow white's hot chick of a stepmother...who SHOULD have been fairest in the land.

Precious Pea said...

tigerfish: I did take some of those rides but not enuff time to cover everything though. Er..i personally felt that my mickey bag is nicer than Hermes ;)

fbb: EXACTLY!! I guess many of those remarks came from those who visited Disneyland in its early days. The place is so clean and fireworks was amazing. HK Disneyland small?? I didn't even have a chance to try all the rides and shows. :( But i will take your advice and spend 3 days there next year.

Precious Pea said...

fbb: I was looking forward more to meet Prince Charming. I tot he would be galloping out on his white horse in white suit! LOL! Guess those are famous but not popular characters.

Heehee, take me along on your next trip to Disneyland! I'm not too old, am I, for the Magic Kingdom? ;)

wmw said...
