A NIGHT TO REMEMBER....THANKS TO FBB

Yesterday's night was absolutely wonderful. I was so honoured to be invited by FBB to his mansion for a home-cooked dinner together with a number of food bloggers; namely Audreycooks, Tummy Thoughts & Phitoy, Boo_licious, Lyrical Lemongrass, Jackson, Jason, WMW, Allan & Nigel, Joe and Teckie.

It was funny when FBB told us the reason for throwing the party was because his parents were not around. But it's true though, it's not 'convenient' to have parents around when you throw a party. Your guests will have to behave and not be able to 'express' themselves openly. Anyway, I heard so much about FBB's baking and cooking skill especially from the recent post by Jackson, so I told myself no matter how tired I am, I would not miss this gathering.

The menu for the night was laid on the table for the convenience of us floggers. From appetizers to desserts, all were specially cooked by FBB. To start of with, we had some Assorted Cheese Platter. The fruit cheese was the hot item; soft, creamy and sweet, tasted so perfect with crackers. Oh..FBB told us it's available at Cold Storage.

We had our boost of protein by munching on the greatly addictive Edamame (Japanese soybean).

Yummzzz....next came the fresh-from-the-oven Homemade Pizza with Pork Bacon, Basil, Mushroom and Crabmeat, one tomato-based and the other pesto-based. Both equally good and tasted so perfect. The crust was so crispy and laden with so much goodies, each bite was so wonderful. Put many so-called Italian restaurants to shame. BIG THUMBS UP for the Pizza, oppss...to FBB i mean!

To fill our stomach, FBB prepared this mouthwatering and colourful Medley of Garden Vegetables with Quail Eggs. The dressing was simple...balsamic vinegar, olive oil and jam. FBB told us he ran out of honey so he used jam instead but it turned out really marvellous! I find it really appetising and I should make this at home whenever I feel like dieting. Err...jam is fattening rite?

Vermicelli Pasta with Roast Duck was wonderful too. It was such a huge serving, it didn't create a dent on it even after each of us had a round of it. It was good, really, duck is always my favourite!

I got to say the Chicken and Mushroom pie was my most favourite dish of the night. I used to love chicken pie but after too many dissappointed encounters, I gave up. I simply love the chicken and mushroom fillings as it was light and tasty. Meanwhile the crust was so buttery and doesn't crumble to the touch. Ooo...simply marvellous. FBB, next time can I order the pie from you? Please please please please please?

Just look at the chicken fillings. Not those starchy texture which you get outside. FBB puts white wine to cook the fillings...droolz.

FBB was so thoughtful as he also bought some very crunchy and crispy Deli Roast Pork for us to attack. Boo was munching on the skin and Lyrical Lemongrass was so tempted to record the sound of it and put it in her blog to show how crispy the skin was. Well, this plate of roast pork really delighted us...but wait till you see what FBB brought in next.

Another plate of CHUNKY Roast Pork!! Jackson put his finger next to the chunks of roast pork for size comparison purposes. My Hubby would sure be brimming with joy is he is here with me.

Really stuffed after the yummy starters and mains but how can we skip desserts??? WMW bought a box of Big Apple doughnut which she featured in her blog recently. I am not going to elaborate on it, so please click here if you are interested.

Sorry girls, this handsome chap is not the delivery boy for Big Apple. But am sure Big Apple will earn big money if they employ Jackson as their delivery boy with that wonderful smile. Shall i send in the proposal?

A dozen of assorted flavoured doughnuts. I only took one bite as I was already very very full.

The Flourless Chocolate Cakes with Molten Centres were served warm. Really moist and chocolatey rich.....although flourless, still very sinful.

At this point, I couldn't bring myself to eat anymore but how can I walk out from the room without try the Rum and Raisins Tart? Seriously, I really could not put anymore food into my mouth so when Joe cut a slice, I took a very small bite from his portion. OOO....so light and smooth.Raisins were heavily 'rummed'! Big mistake, should have taken the tart before the chocolate cakes......aiiiiiii.

Can you see the raisins? Nigel and Joe, I know what both of u are thinking now. BEHAVE ok?

Supposed to have a game session but we were all too stuffed and lazy so we coaxed Nigel and Allan to sing for us. Thanks to FBB's wife excellent piano skill, the three of them received big applause from us. Clap clap clap clap clap! WMW also sang but sadly, a few of us got to leave since it was too late. Anyway, WMW always sing in the car, so I can get her to sing for me anytime, anywhere, right sista?

Before I end, I really have to say a BIG BIG thank you to FBB and his wife for hosting such wonderful and memorable dinner. Also not forgetting the laughters I shared with the rest of fellow floggers. Like Joe said, this gathering is PRICELESS!
