I just realised that I have been crowned as the President of King Crab's Fan Club by Boolicious. A few of us, namely WMW, Tankiasu, Tummythoz, Jackson and of course Boo met at King Crab for dinner last week. The dinner was actually a request from Tankiasu who got hooked to King Crab after his first visit a week before. And since I am feeling crabby and a few of them have not tried King Crab, why not? Upon seated, we were served with a plate of achar as appetizer which surprisingly left untouched. Perhaps everyone was saving their stomach for the main dishes.
As President, I was given the honour and power to order whatever I wish to order. Boo and I have blogged about this place several times, so initially we just sat there and amuse ourselves by looking at the others turning and rearranging plates in order to take the most perfect shot. When the Pomfret Roll was served, we just couldn't help ourself but to dig out our cameras and joined in the fun. And guess what? The two of us who said we don't want to blog about King Crab anymore were the first two who blogged about this dinner! LOL! Anyway, back to food review. This Pomfret Roll (I named it myself) was recommended by the waitress. According to her, the fish slices were used to roll some shredded veggies and fruits inside and then fried. Drizzled with creamy sauce, it is indeed very tasty. The remaining fish frame was deep fried and the overall dish was very well presented.
Salted Egg Squid, everyone's favourite tasted perfect. The squid was so lightly coated and each bite was full of aroma from the salted egg and the sweet juices from the squid. MMmmm...
Since it's gonna be a cholesterol and fat-laden meal, we opt to balance it with a plate of Yin Yang Kai Lan. Boo did a good description on this, so I shall not talk too much on this.
A special request from Tankiasu, I ordered the Guinness Stout Pork Rib which turned out to be a favourite among the boys. The pork was well-marinated with Guinness Stout, so juicy and tender. Mmmm....THUMBS UP!
I was quite disappointed with the prawns because it was completely a different version from what I had previously. It was supposed to be dry or gravy-less but I spotted starchy gravy in this dish. Prawns where small but luckily the freshness and bounciness compensated all the flaws.
AH-HA! Everyone (or was it only me) was looking forward to this Buttered Crab that I have been raving all the time. Jackson who was coughing his lungs out before the dinner was miraculously cured by drinking spoonful after spoonful of the butter gravy.
After our satisfying meal, I received an sms from FBB saying that he is on his way with Durian Tiramisu. We didn't mind waiting 30 mins for our dessert, oppss, i mean FBB to arrive. And so we spent time chatting, lauging, taking candid shots....and 30 mins seems like only 3 mins when you are with great companions. Since we are not sure if we are allowed to bring outside food in, we pretended it was Jackson's birthday and very loudly, we sang Birthday song to Jackson. LOL!!!
Mmmm.....the durian tiramisu was really good. The durian smell burst and filled the air as it was cut open. The durian cream was really smooth and aromatic and it tasted really good with a layer of moist sponge fingers at the bottom and a layer of chocolate on top. I was really full after my first helping and simply could not resist from taking the second piece.
I actually consulted FBB if he put brandy into his sponge fingers and this was what he replied me in msn:

Anyway, thanks again FBB for such wonderful dessert and hope you can join us for the earlier session next time.
Once again, a great dinner and everyone went home with a satisfying grin.
