GOODBYE PHUKET ~ DAY 3

This will be my last posting of my Phuket trip and ahem, another food related post. On our last day, we intended to visit the market in Phuket town which we missed the day before. Guess we have no luck as it was pouring cats and dogs, sigh, so out of no choice, we headed to the airport instead.

Being early by more than 3 hours, we couldn’t even check-in since they have not even assigned the check-in counter. The best way to kill time is to hunt for food! On Thanks to my sharp vision and my sensitive nose, I spotted a Thai restaurant on the 1st floor. Turned out this restaurant is operated by Thai Airway and is opened to public as well as a separate Royal Silk lounge area.

There are quite a wide selection in their menu; both Thai and Western food at very reasonable price. While I was walking in, I spotted a very interesting dish on display and so I decided to order it. It’s a platter consisting of steamed glutinous rice, papaya salad, deep fried pork strips and lots of raw vegetables. I was quite disappointed with the glutinous rice as it was a bit too hard and thus I restraint myself from taking too much in fear of indigestion. The deep fried porky strip was quite tasty although slightly dry.
As for the salad, personally I prefer mango over papaya salad but am totally amazed as this bowl of fiery hot papaya salad was really good. Sweet, sour, hot and the saltiness from the fish sauce were all combined to perfection. The combination of the papaya salad when eaten together with the glutinous rice was marvelous! If not mistaken, this platter only costs RM10!

Priced at only RM12, Hubby’s Tom Yum Goong came with 3 big prawns and a plate of white rice. The soup was fantastically fiery hot..phew. The waiter saw me in tears with my tongue sticking out, immediately he came to my rescue with a big jar of iced cold water. Phewww!!!

Sorry for the picture, tried to adjust it to potrait but somehow, it prefers to be uploaded in landscape form..hehe...so pls tilt your head yah.

And not forgetting, a refreshing glass of fresh mandarin orange juice.

It’s quite a nice place to dine with spectacular sea view and also you get planes arriving and departing from the airport.

Look! It's a bird! No it's a plane! No it's a bird!

With a satisfying Thai lunch like this, that completes my Phuket trip with 2 big thumbs up!

(I was watching CNN after I finished drafting this post and I learned that One-Two-Go airways jet flying in from Bangkok to Phuket skidded at the Phuket International Airport due to the heavy storm and crashed at the sideways off runway. It is very near to the picture i took above. Feeling so sad for the victims. May all the 87 poor souls rest in peace).

Won't it be what you will be eating in a plane? They cater for flight meals, don't they? :O
