FAREWELL 2007; WELCOME 2008

A NEW YEAR, A NEW LOOK! A special thanks to Kenny Mah for designing the cute and sweet banner for me.

2007…a year that I can say was one of the best in my life. Lots of good things happened to me this year, in fact, I felt so blessed and now feeling a bit upset that 2007 is gone. I am not going to do any New Year resolution as I know I would never achieve any of it. Instead, I would like to do an overview of my memorable 2007 which I know for sure would put a wide grin on my face when I read it again, say, in 10 years time?

#1 MY NEW BABY

Although separated by a glass panel, the moment we set our eyes on each other, I knew he was the one. It was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!!! Yes, it’s none other than my very Precious Pumpkin.
Pumpkin
A very unexpected and hasty purchase but nonetheless made with no regrets. Pumpkin turned out to be a lil’ monster but all of us love him unconditionally, and yes, even Pea adores him now as he chose to play with Pumpkin than to play with me!

#2 MY FOREVER NO. 1
I guess 2007 was also a memorable year to Pea as for the first time in his life, he got to forego the “King of the House” title to the lil’s monster, Pumpkin. I was really sad when Pea totally rejected the presence of Pumpkin by isolating himself from us. But now, they are inseparable brothers! But Pea, I assure you that you are always my number 1 ok?
Snowpea

#3 MY NEW HOUSE
Apart from Pumpkin, another hasty purchase was made during the year, in fact, a very major purchase. Yes, it’s a place I call HOME SWEET HOME! Initially, I was having mixed feelings. I have been living in SS2 for the past 24 years and moving to a new neighborhood is not something I look forward to. At the same time, I also feel excited to have my own house, a house that I can beautify according to my taste! I guess all I need is time for the big adjustment. (For security reason, sorry, no photo of my new house)

#4 ME AT WORK
Working for the same company for the past 6 years, I was at the verge of frustration as my managers never stayed long in their job. I have worked under 4 different managers throughout the 6 years and it’s not easy to adjust to new working style all the time. Promotion is practically ‘uncommon’ at my workplace. So it came as a big surprise to be promoted twice in less than a year. Perhaps my big boss finally realized that I CAN WORK or perhaps out of no choice? Hahaha…for whatever the reasons, am very happy with the much improved paycheque. (Apologies, there won’t be any photos of my paycheck)

#5 AM IN GRADE 1!!
Already a year since I started with my Guzheng lesson and I am now officially in Grade 1 after passing through the Beginner 1 and 2 levels. Due to my laziness, I must admit, my progress was a bit slow but then I am looking forward to getting my own Guzheng when I move to my new house. The bigger one at the studio really makes a big difference as compared to the smaller one I had at home now…haha..an excuse for the lacked of motivation to practice at home! I have no videos of my progress in Grade 1 so here I post a video taken many many months back when I entered my Beginner 2 level.

#6 PRECIOUS PEA
I started off with
fotopages a couple of years ago so that my sister in Melbourne could view photos taken during my holiday trips. I just couldn’t recall how it ended up with food, food and more food. After much persuasion from a friend, I finally migrated to Blogger and set-up Precious Pea, an online journal about my passion for doggies, food and travel. I guess the greatest reward I reaped was meeting up with a bunch of great people out there who share the same passion; FOOD! Prior to blogging, I was a very reserved and quiet person, probably shy and have low self-confidence to speak up, so social events are usually struck out from my list. I took the courage to attend the first gathering of food bloggers at Sandias and since then, there was no turning back for me. It became a weekly affair to meet and catch up with some of them over good food. Overnight, my email, MSN and Facebook were filled with new friends made. I can also feel a newer me, a more outspoken and less nervous when meeting new people.

#7 UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE - Drive For Food
The most memorable experience of the year: Drive For Food! Teaming up with WMW, Jackson and Teckiee, we produced a video on Apple Crumble for submission and that won us RM100. It’s not the money but the memorable experience that counts. We had so much fun and laughter throughout the process, and the video is a piece of souvenir that I will keep for life.

Although we didn’t win in the finals round, our drive from KL to Penang was filled with great fun, again, something that I will look back and cherish every moment of it.

Thank you my dear teammates…to me, we are the champions!

#8 GOOD FOOD GOOD LIFE
Thanks to my blog, 2007 was filled with good food. A special thanks to Hubby for being so supportive (financially) as we got a bit more adventurous in terms of food hunting, from hawker to fine dining, so that I could have more things to blog. I had so much good food this year, I have now satisfied my curiousity on
Fugu, Kobe and of course, the most memorable and lavish meal would be having 2 Hairy Crabs at one go and ended with another Australian Lobsters. And who could have thought, my food post would be selected to be printed in The Star! Although it was nothing to shout about, but personally, I felt really happy as this was the first time in my life that my article being featured in a newspaper!

#9 MY FIRST PRESTIGE CARD
I guess it’s out in the open now, hahaha, thanks to Jackson! Yes, am talking about my King Card VIP card. Another reward earned from my blog. Who could have thought that the management in King Crab actually checked my review?

#10 HOLIDAYS!!
I just love traveling, who doesn’t right? I did quite a fair bit of traveling this year but the most memorable trip would be to Hong Kong Disneyland. It was such a magical place and being there almost made me feel like being a 5-year old again.
3-1

But of course, I also enjoyed the rest of my trips, so let me do a count here…hmm….
Chiang Mai in Jan, Bangkok in March, Shenzhen & Hong Kong in May, Macau and Siem Reap in July, Phuket in August and lastly Kota Kinabalu in September. OH MY GOD!! Now I realized I have not posted on my Siem Reap trip. Ok…my New Year resolution now is to complete my post on Siem Reap by end January 2008!

Having such a blessed year, I do hope 2008 would have more good things in store for me and for you. Happy New Year and may 2008 brings you lots of joy and happiness!!
