Happy Birthday, my dear Boy..

I am not a person who like kids, maybe because I am still like a kid. But somehow, there is this little kiddo who holds a very special place in my heart, a special bond which I could not explain. To me, he is a gift to the family. A gift to replace the wound in my heart when my mum passed away. Yes, this special one is my nephew, who was born exactly 5 years ago; 10 months after my mum passed away. I was in deep grief back then, so when my nephew was born, I was really happy and felt blessed to have an additional member in the family. My sis named him as Nathan, in Hebrew means 'Gift' which I find a perfect choice for this bundle of joy.

My sis always thought that I was a very lucky person, so initially she thought of delivering her first child on the same day as my birth date. Well, it didn't go according to her plan as her doctor had to move house (DUH!), hence, Nathan was born 2 days ahead of mine. Being born a Sagittarius and in the year of Horse (exactly just like me) probably explains further the reason why I am so fond of him.


Sadly, we are so far apart. My sis and I takes turn to visit each other yearly and despite the little time we spent together, I am very sure Nathan also has a special spot for me in his heart. I love the way he calls me 'Yi-yeh'. It is supposed to be 'Yi yi' but then with his Aussie slang, it went a bit off tune. Nevertheless it still melts my heart whenever he calls me 'Yi-yeh' and claimed I am the best (for anything, everything.. hahaha). Am not boasting as I have clear evidence here:




Going through my album, I never realised that I actually took quite a number of photos of him enjoying his food. Yes, he is a great potential foodie! While kids his age idolise superheroes like Spiderman and Batman, I was told that his recent idol is Jamie Oliver and his current favourite show is Iron Chef, a Japanese series on cooking competition. My sis is so lucky as food is never a problem with this boy as he loves his fruits and veggies as much as he loves his meat. And guess what is his favourite? Garlic and mushrooms and he called spring onions and parsley as "choy choy" (veggie). Surprisingly, he also loves crab since the age of 2!! Here are some of the photos of him enjoying his food.

I was there for his 4th birthday last December, despite the fact we had to fork out RM3,100 per person for the air ticket. Sad to say, todate, that was his only birthday I celebrated with him and my first birthday he celebrated with me.

Nathan is turning 5 today. I don't feel sad for not being there as I know, he is coming back to visit me at my new house soon next year. Tickets to HK Disneyland already paid....so, am looking forward to having a blast time with him.
