The Definition of 'ENGROSS'

On the day before their arrival, I called and spoke to my nephew. He was so excited as he knew exactly what was awaiting him here; the Gameboy which I had promised to buy for him few months back, complete with a few game cartridges I bought from Bangkok. A few days before his arrival, Hubby constantly reminded me to fully charge the battery so that he can immediately play with his new toy, in which of course I did. I promised to bring it along to the airport when I picked them up, in which of course I did. While my brother-in-law was busy loading the luggages into my car, Nathan peeped into my car. He shyly turned away when I asked him what he was looking for. After he buckled up, I asked him to close his eyes and immediately he knew what I was up to. He was so excited and just couldn't help himself from grinning so widely. Sadly, I didn't capture that moment on video cos I was too excited to see him too.

He absolutely loves his new toy and carrying it around wherever he goes. While my shopping-freak sister went from one shop to another, my nephew did the same. He seizes every single opportunity to play a game or two, as you can see from the all the photos I taken of him with his gameboy.

Now, this is my definition of ENGROSS!

I used to think GB is bad for kids but now I think it is probably the best thing ever invented as it keeps our kids seated and quiet so that my wife and I can have a peaceful meal whenever we dine outside:P

aiya, if i were ur sister...! better control the time he spends on it. bad for eyesight, bad for social behavior (not talking; too engrossed), bad for school, bad for toilet habits (one of my boys got so addicted he wouldn't go to the loo until his poop came out). but i understand a loving aunt would do what u did. just let his parents tear their hair out.i love the collage too-still not good at it.

tt's exactly like Bryan with his PSP which he got 4 his bday. Totally engrossed!

kk: Agree agree. No kids screaming and running around the restaurant with parents chasing behind.

terri: In fact, my sis was engross with it too and it's funny how she made up excuses to confiscate the gameboy from him so that she can play it herself. I knew what you mean, i was worried about him too engrossed too but luckily, he is such an angel. Whenever we said enough, he would switch it off.

barbie: I only get to see him once a year, so have to make sure i spoil him to the max! Hehe!

simon: Actually, not only kids. I own one too. ;)

droolteam: All kids are the same. Err...actually I am like that too. I can play till i feels like throwing up then i stop. Sleep also dream of the game. Hahahahah!

Well ... the kid is going through a phase. A good phase though. Very soon he'll be on to bigger stuffs but for now you're his best Auntie In The World !

Good Job in making the kid so happy.

timothy: He is slowly exploring my Wii oledi. And it's amazing how well he can play although it was his first time. Inborn i guess?

nic: True true..last time a packet of Chickadee (20 sen) oledi i feel so contented. Eating KFC is like a big treat. Now that I can afford it, don't find it taste as great as before. Wonder it's their problem or my problem.

durianberry: Ermm..actually not only boys. I like GB as well.

ling239: His gameboy is his current fav toy. :)
